Build It and They Will Come. Really?
My enthusiasm doesn't last long after I read in Publishers Weekly that only one novel in two-hundred sell over five-hundred copies and that only happens if the author has thousands of fans following them on social media. How depressing is that!
So depressing I drink two glasses of rosé instead of one with my Camembert sandwich while sitting on my terrace in Teyssieres feeling sorry for myself.
I remind myself that I have specific goals here in southern France and don’t go crazy over marketing statistics. Just build the damn website.
I remind myself that the reason for building this website is to draw attention to my novels so they are read.
I remind myself that I am not a publisher, nor a web tech, just a voice in the crowd wanting to be heard so start hammering.
I remind myself that I will still be a writer in spite of my flimsy platform and my next novel can't start until "In Pursuit ..." is published - so I better get going!
